Blooming Cranberry Mimosa

Cranberry Mimosa

Cupid was here! Love is in the air! 💕 Let your love bloom this Valentine's Day with my Blooming Cranberry Mimosa. Love stories aren’t written overnight but they could be with this magical, dreamy and delicious cocktail!

Oranges, cranberries and cranberry juice combine to create ice cubes reminiscent of beautiful flowers. Add one to a coupe cocktail glass and top with champagne (or sparkling water) for a cocktail (or mocktail) almost too pretty to drink!

If you’re looking for a last minute Valentine’s Day gift, date night idea or a little bubbly for your Galentine’s Day celebration, then look no further! So, let me show you how it’s done. Grab a spoon and come and cook with me! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 0 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Serves: 6

Ingredients:

  • 3 - 4 small navel oranges (See Notes below)

  • 6 fresh or frozen cranberries (See Notes below)

  • 1 1/4 cups white cranberry juice

  • A bottle of Champagne, Prosecco or Sparkling Wine (See Notes below)

Instructions:

  1. Set aside a jumbo 6 cube silicone ice cube tray, with each cube measuring approximately 2 inches in size.

  2. Cut the oranges into 1/4 inch slices for a total of 18 slices.

  3. Add 3 orange slices to each cube to form a flower. Check out my video above for easy to follow step-by-step instructions!

  4. Place a cranberry into the centre of each of the flowers and fill the ice cube tray with cranberry juice.

  5. Carefully transfer the ice cube tray to the freezer and freeze until set or overnight.

  6. As your guests arrive, remove the Cranberry Orange Flowers from the ice cube tray and transfer them into coupe cocktail glasses.

  7. Pour Champagne, Prosecco or Sparkling Wine over top and serve and enjoy! Cheers!

Notes:

  1. The Cut Matters: When slicing your oranges, 1/4 inch thickness yields the best results. You’ll be left with orange slices that hold their shape but are pliable enough to be molded into the ice cube tray.

  2. Substituting Fresh or Frozen Cranberries: If you don’t have cranberries on hand or can’t find them at your local grocer, simply substitute them with red grapes, raspberries, larger blueberries or blackberries on a 1:1 basis.

  3. Make it a Mocktail: Mocktails can be just as fun and flavourful as cocktails! To make this drink alcohol-free, simply substitute the Champagne, Prosecco or Sparkling Wine in this recipe with sparkling water. Serve and enjoy! Cheers!
