The word of the day is Opa! If you’re craving some Greek food, look no further than my Greek-inspired Meatball recipe! These meatballs are full of big flavour, tender and juicy and couldn’t be more delicious! They are the meatballs of all meatballs! Now, that’s a mouthful, both figuratively and literally.
My Greek Meatball recipe starts off with equal portions of ground beef and ground pork. The beef imparts a strong flavour while the pork, which is higher in fat content, keeps these meatballs tender and juicy! A trio of breadcrumbs, milk and eggs serve as a binding agent, adding moisture to the meat while keeping them extra juicy once cooked! Onions and garlic give these meatballs an additional flavour boost while also adding moisture. The meat is then seasoned with a combination of fresh and dried herbs and spices, including dill, mint, cumin and oregano, which add tons of brightness, freshness, savouriness and smokiness to these Mediterranean-style meatballs. A handful of crumbled Feta is added to the mix, imparting creaminess, tanginess and salinity to these oh-so satisfying meatballs. Serve these meatballs alongside some homemade tzatziki, rice, pitas and Horiatiki for a little taste of Greece!

If you love Greek food, then this dish is for you! This one-pan wonder makes meal prep a breeze! My Greek Meatball recipe comes together in under 30 minutes, uses a handful (or two) of simple and everyday ingredients and couldn’t be easier to make! So, let me show you how it’s done. Grab a spoon and come and cook with me!

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 16 - 20 minutes
Total Time: 26 -30 minutes
Makes: 30 - 32 meatballs
Ingredients:
1 cup regular or gluten-free breadcrumbs
1/4 cup 2 % milk
2 large eggs
1 medium red onion, peeled and finely chopped
5 garlic cloves, peeled and minced
1/4 cup fresh dill fronds, finely chopped
3 Tbsp fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 1/4 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
1 lb lean ground beef (See Notes below)
1 lb ground pork (See Notes below)
2 ounces Feta, crumbled
2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Store-bought or homemade tzatziki, as an accompaniment
Cooked rice, as an accompaniment
Greek salad, as an accompaniment
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 425F and line a 11” x 17” baking sheet with parchment paper.
To a large bowl, add the breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, red onion, garlic, dill, mint, salt, cumin and oregano and mix until fully incorporated. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes to allow the breadcrumbs to hydrate.
Toss in the ground beef and pork as well as the Feta. Using your hands, mix until all the ingredients are fully incorporated.
Portion out the meatballs using a heaping tablespoon measure. Then, shape the meatballs between the palms of your hands into 1 1/2 inch balls.
Transfer the meatballs to the parchment lined baking sheet, ensuring that you leave 1/2 inch of space between them.
Brush the meatballs with olive oil and transfer them to the oven.
Bake the meatballs for 16 - 20 minutes or until they are golden brown in colour and have cooked through.
Remove the Greek Meatballs from the oven. Transfer them to a serving platter or individual plates. Serve them alongside some tzatziki, pitas, rice and Greek Salad. Enjoy!

Notes:
Preparing the Meatball Mixture: Once you have placed all the ingredients into the large bowl, gently work them together until just combined. Overworking the meat will result in dry and tough meatballs.
Checking For Doneness: You know your meatballs have cooked through when their internal temperature reaches 160F (71C).
