It’s peach 🍑 season in Ontario and I couldn’t think of a better way to utilize this stone fruit than to make my Homemade Peach Salsa recipe! This fruit-based snack is fresh, sweet, savoury, smoky, slightly spicy and so delicious! It’s time to get peachy! So salsa your way into the kitchen and make this quick and easy snack!
Why not give your oven or stove the day off! There’s no cooking required here! Just chop up some ripe and juicy peaches, an aromatic onion, fresh bell pepper, a handful of fragrant cilantro and add it to a bowl. Top it with lime juice and zest, salt and ground cumin, to round out the flavours and get ready for a satisfying bite!
So, why buy store-bought when you can make your own at home with a handful of simple ingredients and just 10 minutes of your time! This sauce and condiment pairs well with just about anything and everything - tortilla chips, nachos, fajitas, tacos or served alongside your favourite protein, like chicken, pork, fish or seafood! Serves: 6 - 8
Ingredients:
4 ripe peaches, pitted, quartered and cut into 1/4 inch cubes
1 red onion, peeled and finely chopped
1 red bell pepper, cored, seeded and finely diced
1/3 cup cilantro leaves, finely chopped
1 jalapẽno pepper, ribs and seeds removed, finely chopped (See Notes below)
2 Tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice (approx. 1 lime)
Zest of 1 lime
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/8 tsp ground cumin
Tortilla chips, for serving
Instructions:
To a medium bowl, add the chopped peaches, red onion, bell pepper, cilantro, jalapeño, lime juice and zest, salt and cumin and mix until combined.
Transfer the mixture to the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavours to meld.
Serve this Homemade Peach Salsa with tortilla chips, alongside nachos or as a topping for tacos, fajitas, burritos or your favourite protein. Enjoy!
Notes:
Some Like It Hot: For a fiery salsa, add the whole jalapeño, including the ribs and seeds.
