Limoncello Spritz Cocktail

Limoncello Spritz Cocktail

When life gives you lemons, make a Limoncello Spritz! Pop some bubbly and let’s get this party started! My Limoncello Spritz Cocktail is like sunshine on a rainy day! It’s bubbly, citrusy and vibrant in both taste and colour. Similar to it’s famous counterpart, the Aperol Spritz, this cocktail is sweeter with a more pronounced lemon flavour. So, if you’re looking for a cocktail to quench your thirst on a hot day, then you’ll have to give this refreshing recipe a try!

My Limoncello Spritz recipe consists of 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Limoncello and 1 part sparkling water. Serve it over ice (and plenty of it), stir and garnish it with a lemon slice and some fresh mint. That’s it! It couldn’t be easier to make and equates to one satisfying sip!

This cocktail is made using Prosecco and Limoncello, an Italian digestif. Prosecco comes in varying levels of sweetness - Brut Nature, Extra Brut, Brut, Extra Dry, Dry, Demi-Sec and Dulce. I love using extra dry Prosecco in this recipe, given the inherent sweetness of Limoncello. But, if you prefer a drier or sweeter Prosecco, then go with your favourite bottle.

Limoncello is a southern Italian lemon liqueur, traditionally made using the zest of Femminello St. Teresa or sfusato lemons. The zest is steeped in vodka or a concentrated ethanol, releasing its essential oils and imparting a distinct yellow colour and lemon flavour to this alcoholic beverage. In Italy, this liqueur is typically served as an after-dinner digestif and is thought to aid with digestion after a meal.

This no-fuss cocktail comes together in under 5 minutes, uses 3 simple ingredients and couldn’t be easier to make! So, let me show you how it’s done. Grab a spoon and come and cook with me!
