Roulette, anyone?! Shishito Peppers with Chili Lime make for the perfect party snack! If you’ve never had shishito peppers, you’re missing out! These Japanese peppers are green, small, mild and savoury. When cooked, they soften and have a smokey and slightly sweet flavour profile. Now, let the games begin! Here comes the fun part - approximately 1 in every 10 shishito peppers carries some heat. These peppers yield a subtle kick and warmth that one would expect from a milder jalapeño pepper. Mild or hot, what will it be?! You’ll have to give this recipe a try and wait and see!
My Shishito Peppers with Chili Lime recipe starts off with fresh shishito peppers. The shishito peppers are cooked in a hot skillet with some oil until blistered or charred. Once cooked, they are tossed in lime juice, honey, Tajin seasoning and salt. The result - savoury, smoky, spicy, sweet, zesty and too delicious for words!
This snack or appetizer couldn’t be easier to make, uses 6 simple ingredients and comes together in under 10 minutes! Enjoy it during a busy week, as a weekend snack or serve them at your next date night, dinner party or BBQ. You really can’t go wrong. So, let me show you how it’s done. Transfer the cooked shishito peppers to a large mixing bowl and squeeze lime juice over top. Drizzle with honey and season with Tajin and salt. Toss and serve and enjoy!
